Somiti Keeper Lite

All of a society's accounts, in your palm — transparent accounting without the ledger hassle.

Somiti Keeper Lite is a mobile & web accounting app for cooperative societies and neighbourhood savings groups in Bangladesh. It is the lightweight, easy-onboarding version of the full Somiti Keeper — built for smaller groups who want the app running in minutes, work offline when the network drops, and sign in with a fingerprint. Same trusted double-entry accounting, a fraction of the setup.

Overview

The full system, sized for a 40-member circle.

Most small somitis and neighbourhood savings circles still keep money in a paper register. A single arithmetic slip can spark a dispute over pooled savings — and the full accounting ERP is more than a 40-member group ever needs. Somiti Keeper Lite closes that gap.

It puts member profiles with photos, digital passbooks, savings, loans and automated double-entry ledgers on the treasurer's phone. Everything works offline and syncs to an encrypted cloud backup when the connection returns. Sign-in is by fingerprint, the interface is fully in Bengali, and the subscription is paid straight from bKash — so a group can be up and running in minutes, not weeks.

The result is transparent, automatic accounting without the ledger hassle — the same trust infrastructure that powers the full Somiti Keeper, in a lighter, mobile-first form.

Market Research

Why a lite version, and why now.

The context that shaped Somiti Keeper Lite — the size of the need, the pain being solved, the timing, and the opening the full product left behind.

Millions in community savings

Across Bangladesh, countless small somitis and neighbourhood savings groups pool everyday deposits from ordinary families. Most run on paper. It is a vast base of small organisations that all need their books kept — and hardly any of them use software today.

The pain: errors erode trust

When savings are pooled from a community, arithmetic mistakes and unclear balances turn into disputes fast. A wrong figure in the register is not a small inconvenience — it can destroy the trust that holds the whole group together.

Offline & mobile timing

Treasurers carry smartphones, but rural and semi-urban internet is patchy. A tool that only works online is useless at the moment a deposit is collected. Offline-first, mobile-first design is what makes an app practical in the field.

The gap the ERP left

The full Somiti Keeper is powerful, but it is overkill for a 40-member circle — too much to configure, too much to learn. A self-serve, quick-setup lite app captures the long tail of tiny groups that would never onboard onto the full platform.
